1. Quick Troubleshooting Checklist
Before moving to a specific section, try these basic checks:
- Confirm the mode switch is set to the connection method you are using.
- If using wireless mode, make sure the keyboard has sufficient battery power.
- Reconnect the USB cable or 2.4G receiver.
- Try another USB port and connect directly to the computer during troubleshooting.
- Test another connection mode if available.
- Confirm the UT98 is in the correct Windows / macOS / iOS / Android mode.
- If a key or light behaves unexpectedly, hold Fn + Esc for approximately 3 seconds to restore defaults.
2. System Modes & Shortcuts
Why are my modifier keys different from what I expect?
The UT98 may be in a different system mode. Use Fn + W for Windows, Fn + E for macOS, Fn + Q for Android, or Fn + R for iOS.
Why are Win and Alt different on my Mac?
In macOS mode, the keyboard changes the modifier layout so it more closely matches Mac conventions. The Alt key functions as Command, and the Windows/Alt functions are reassigned accordingly.
Why does Fn + F1–F12 behave differently after I switch systems?
Windows mode uses F1–F12 as standard function keys and places multimedia actions on the Fn layer. macOS, iOS, and Android modes provide supported multimedia actions with a single F-key press; hold Fn when you need the standard F1–F12 key values.
Why does a multimedia shortcut not work?
First confirm the system mode. Then test whether the same media function works directly in the operating system or application. Some shortcuts depend on host-device support and the currently active app.
3. USB Wired Troubleshooting
The UT98 does not respond in wired mode
- Set the mode switch to OFF.
- Reconnect the USB Type-C cable at both ends.
- Try another USB port.
- Connect directly to the computer instead of through a hub or dock.
- Try another compatible data cable if available.
- Test the keyboard on another computer if possible.
The keyboard charges but does not type over USB
A USB cable can provide power without carrying data. Confirm that you are using the included cable or another known data-capable USB cable, then reconnect the keyboard in OFF wired mode.
The keyboard disconnects intermittently while wired
Check both cable connections, try another USB port, and avoid loose adapters or extension cables. If the issue occurs across multiple ports, cables, and computers, contact MCHOSE Support.
4. 2.4G Troubleshooting
The 2.4G receiver does not connect automatically
- Set the mode switch to 2.4G.

How many BT devices can the UT98 remember?
Up to three BT channels can store pairing information. Use Fn + 1, Fn + 2, and Fn + 3 to select the corresponding stored device.
The UT98 does not reconnect to a previously paired BT device
- Make sure the mode switch is set to B.
- Confirm that BT is enabled on the previously paired device.
- Select the correct UT98 BT channel.
- If necessary, remove / forget the UT98 from the host device and pair it again.
- Try another BT channel to rule out a stored-pairing issue.
BT feels slower than 2.4G
BT prioritizes broad wireless-device compatibility and multi-device switching. For applications where lower input latency is more important, use the included 2.4G receiver or USB wired mode.
6. Battery & Charging
How do I check the remaining battery level?
While using the keyboard wirelessly without USB connected, press Fn + B to place the ambient light bar in battery-display mode. A full green bar indicates a high battery level; the green display decreases with remaining charge; a full red indication represents low battery.
What is the UT98 battery capacity?
The current official UT98 product specification lists a 10,000mAh battery.
How do I charge the keyboard?
- Connect the UT98 to a computer with the included USB cable.
- The ambient light bar shows a flowing-light effect while charging.
- When charging is complete, the light bar remains green.
Can I use the keyboard while charging?
Yes. The source guide states that the UT98 can continue operating while it is charging.
Why does the ambient light bar change when I connect USB?
The ambient light bar is also a charging-status indicator. Its lighting behavior can change automatically when USB power is connected.
What charging accessories should I use?
Use a compliant USB power source and a suitable cable. Avoid unsuitable high-voltage adapters, poor-quality power accessories, and high-temperature environments while charging.

9. Volume Roller & Multimedia
What does the volume roller do?
| Action | Function |
|---|---|
| Scroll up | Increase volume |
| Scroll down | Decrease volume |
| Press | Mute / unmute |
The roller works but a media key does not
The roller and Fn multimedia shortcuts use operating-system media controls. Confirm the correct UT98 system mode and verify that the target application accepts the same media command.
Why does F1–F12 control media instead of standard F-keys?
This is expected in macOS, iOS, and Android modes. Hold Fn while pressing the F-key to send the standard F1–F12 key value.
10. Sleep & Wake
Why does the keyboard lighting turn off after I stop typing?
In 2.4G or BT mode, the UT98 enters a power-saving state after approximately 1 minute of inactivity.
How do I wake the keyboard?
Press any key.
The first key after sleep feels delayed
A wireless keyboard may require a short moment to restore the host connection after power-saving sleep. If wake delays become frequent, check battery level, try 2.4G or wired mode, and review the host device's USB / BT power-management settings.
11. Keys, Switches & Hot-Swap

A key feels stuck or does not return normally
- Disconnect the keyboard.
- Remove the keycap.
- Check for dust or debris around the switch.
- Reseat or replace the switch.
- For larger stabilized keys, make sure the stabilizer moves freely.
Can I replace the switches?
Yes. The UT98 is hot-swappable. Use compatible mechanical switches and insert them straight into the socket after confirming that the pins are aligned.
Why do larger keys sound different from letter keys?
Space, Enter, Shift, and other stabilized keys use different keycap sizes and stabilizer structures, so their acoustic character can differ from standard letter keys. If a key develops a sudden scraping, rattling, or inconsistent feel, inspect the keycap, switch, and stabilizer.
12. M HUB & Web Driver
Does the UT98 support M HUB?
